  1. Ahhhh isn't it amazing how much they change? His dapples though 😍 I should definitely put one of these together for Cinna but the logistics of digging up that many photos exhausts me just thinking about it 🤣

    1. Yeah this was easy only because I've got Flickr albums of every one of my animals that I sort their photos into a few times a year. (All of my photos auto-upload to Flickr from my phone and the DSLR ones I upload periodically and sort.) PITA to begin, but way nice to have and maintain!

  2. This was crazy to see! I didn't think he was changing all that fast, and then it looked like on year he just got super light. I love those dark dapples tho. And the fact that he grew up to be so handsome because dang, Griff. Not the cutest baby. ;)

    1. He was HIDEOUS. I was pretty sure I'd be selling him down the line one day. But then magic happened or something!

  3. He's grown up to be such a gorgeous guy. <3 Wish they would keep the dapples, but I do love the process of watching the color change.

    1. I think he was an ugly youngster lol! I do like his dark rear and that he's maintaining a dark mane/forelock so far. It's definitely lightening up though (sob). His big, dark eye makes a lot of difference in his appearance as he loses the coat coloring though. So very expressive.

  5. I love this so much! I love looking at how the greys change, Goose is basically white now and I miss his dappled butt so much. Also obsessed with watching Griffin grow up through these photos, the gawky yearlings turning into swans is my absolute favorite thing to see <3

    1. Isn't it cool?! And ugh, yes, disappearing dapples is the saddest part of the whole process.

  7. Watching a grey horse change colour is a fascinating process. I will miss Carmen's dapples when they go.

  8. Absolutely love this progression! I know Tookie has gotten so WHITE in the four years we've lived here, but I still love seeing pictures of grays I know as youngsters. For Griff, it's the opposite, since he was still pretty dark the last time I saw him in person. Every time you post current photos, I'm amazed at how light he is.

    1. I didn't even realize how fast he'd been lightening up until I put this together. It's so crazy.

  9. Aww man, I need to dig up baby pics of T! I love seeing the greying process, tho I've always wondered why some of them hang onto the dapples longer than others. Do you think G will stay white or get fleabitten?

    1. I pray he goes fleabitten, but it's so hard to tell! He's always had these randomly placed black flecks throughout and I'm really not sure how they'll present over time. Some people look at them and assume they're from bites/scratches/kicks, but it's really hard to say. I can't remember noticing injury to the areas where the flecks are.

  10. Lol Griffin is basically a dose of hope for anyone with a horrific yearling. 😂 No wonder I didn't recognize him, though! He's so much whiter than when I last saw him. It's going fast this year!

    1. He was sure as hell fugly! I cannot believe I was so fortunate to have him grow up in the manner he has.

    1. Isn't it? I was surprised to see how dramatic the change has been. Can't believe it's been so long.

  13. He is gorgeous in all of his colors! Isn't it so fun to watch them gray? I said I would never have a gray horse but now I'm glad I was wrong!

    1. Haha! I said I'd never have one either...and I think he'll be my only one. Love him to death for being him, and I'm grateful he fell into my lap when he did, but when I'm actively horse shopping in another decade I'm positive I'll go for a dark horse haha
