About Me

I'm a twenty-something, outdoors-loving adventurer trying to stumble through life.  I'm currently living and working as a biologist in my home state of West Virginia. It is a beautiful place chock full of all the adventure I could hope for - beautiful trails to explore on foot and on horseback, exceptional climbing, and plenty of snow for skiing through the winter months.

I am a busy person, constantly on the move.  I work a full-time job, horseback ride in the evenings and on many weekends, rock climb several weekends a month, and am a professional ski patrol at two resorts every weekend throughout the winter months. In between all of this chaos, I find time to volunteer for various projects like the Cape May Raptor Banding Project in Cape May, NJ, every fall.

Needless to say, I've always got a lot on my plate! But I'm happiest that way. I've become a queen of time management and am not greatly stressed by the number of things I juggle. Years of pushing myself outside my comfort zone have really helped me to grow as a person. I'm a firm believer that life begins at the end of your comfort zone.

This blog chronicles my many adventures in West Virginia and beyond. Many are completely unaware of the beauty West Virginia contains. My siberian husky Kenai accompanies me on nearly every adventure I pursue; he is my go-everywhere dog and even accompanies me to the office. Additionally, I have two horses, Q and Griffin, that are a wonderful alternative means of transportation to adventure on and see remote places. If a label must be put upon my horseback riding pursuits, it would be "endurance rider" as I'm happiest traveling long distances on horseback.

I started this blog as a way of trying to concentrate a little bit more on the present.  Taking time to sit down and write on here when I can takes my mind off things looming in the future.  It has been a wonderful way to reminisce on what I've accomplished, where I've adventured, and track progress with training pursuits for both the horses and myself.

Thanks for taking interest and reading along!
