Dublin Dog GIVEAWAY

Alright animal lovers, I know the largest following of folks to this blog is horse folk, but with horses comes a menagerie of other animals into our lives, too. This giveaway is focused around our best and loyal animal friend when we are away from the barn: our dogs!

: : : : :

I'm really excited to introduce y'all to Dublin Dog, a new[er] company who is providing some really kickass products for our canine companions.

Their products are handcrafted in the USA, and their line of no stink collar is unlike any I've found before! Endurance riders, you know the importance of biothane tack and how terrific it is in our active lifestyle with our horses - it rinses easily, is durable, and doesn't hold stench - well, these collars are the same kind of thing for dogs! Additionally, if you peruse the All Style No Stink, you'll notice they've really added some flair to the collars. Things that really will match up with your dog's personality - or your own.

Y'all have seen Kenai sporting his Dublin Dog Reflx orange with reflector stripe collar on the blog already. His collar is just one of many that they offer!

Brook trout design on a collar!
Aurora, your fishing husband will love these fish collars!

I absolutely adore their line of fish collars; they're modeled after the scale patterns on both freshwater natives and saltwater fish species. These collars, like many of their others, are also no stink! Huzzah!

But wait! Collars aren't the only part of the Dublin Dog line, they also carry leashes, toys, beds, and gear like travel bowls and their Buddy Beacon that snaps onto your dog's collar for those nighttime adventures so you can keep track of where your friend is exploring.

Kenai's Nomad Pad has been featured on the blog some, too. I absolutely LOVE this thing.

I was so close to trying to sew a ghetto version of this from some blankets and a tarp when I noticed that Dublin Dog had basically come up with a pro version of my piddly idea! The Nomad pad has a fleece topper, some polyfill to provide cushion, and the bottom is a rubberized polymer to provide waterproofing and some protection against wear and tear of a tougher surface. Oh, and the kicker? The whole thing rolls up and velcros easily into a bed roll complete with a handle for carrying or providing easy attachability to a backpack!

 PRIZES:

THREE  lucky winners will get the choice of the following prizes:
ANY collar + leash combo
-  a T-Shirt
-  a pint glass with the Dublin Dog logo

I'll let the winners - in the order that they are drawn - choose which of the above prizes they would like. The second winner will get to choose from the remaining two, and the final winner will get the remainder. Fortunately, all of the prizes are pretty kickass, so no one will be missing out on some awesome!

10,000 thanks & giveaway

Holy crap, y'all!  Sometime during last night my blog surpassed 10K views!  That is absolutely crazy! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I never thought I'd see such a # - especially in less than two years of blogging. I guess its about time for another giveaway; this time in thanks. What say you to a hand made halter like my horses wear in a color of your choosing for your own horse? Or, for the non-horse followers, a hand-knitted hat for you or a member of your family - winter is coming after all! The winner can choose which they would prefer.

Stripey hat (I can do designs, too, but nothing crazy, please!)
Fat yarn hat.
Q in her purple halter.

To enter:
  1. Leave a comment on this post.
  2. Include your email in this comment - I will announce the winner on the blog and email that person.
  3. State whether you would prefer a hat for yourself or a halter for your horse and what color you want your hat/the noseband on the halter to be  (and why if you want to entertain me with a story).
  4. Optional: Tell me your favorite story/anecdote you've read in the time you've been "following" me. (I put follow in quotations as I don't follow mos of you via blogger but instead have subscribed in Google reader. I loyally read though!)

I will close the giveaway and announce the winner next SATURday, September 8, 2012.

Thanks again to everyone who has been reading and following along. Many of you have become good friends and are a constant source of great advice and encouragement.

: : : : :

In line with the "great advice and encouragement", I have decided I will do the 50 mile race at the Kentucky Stampede in October. I never want to be a crazy front-runner racer; my career with my horses in endurance will likely be one of beating previous races vet scores, beating the clock, beating personal bests, and conquering things that proved to be challenging before. The 50 mile distance sounds ideal to me, and to complete it with a happy, healthy, sound horse is all I'm really looking to do. I'm not in it for the prizes or the placing so much.  I just love working in tandem with my animals, seeing some of the most beautiful country in the process, and meeting some really incredible people along the way. So thanks to those of you who commented and helped cement my decision. =)

Giveaway Winners!!

The two winners have been chosen from the middle of my cross-country journey home; we are currently in South Dakota.

Traveling with two engineers means we have graphing calculators, the only way to do a random number generator!

Without further ado, the winners are:
Stacey from RideEveryStride
And
Mare from SimplyHorseCrazy

Congratulations ladies!  Make sure to get me your information so I can get out the gift cards to you!

And a big thank you to everyone who entered!! I promise more giveaways in the future.

PS - Internet via phone is pretty good in SD lol

Reminder

Just a quick reminder about the GIVEAWAY.  It ends March 31st and I will announce the winners (chosen at random) that evening or on the 1st depending on my travels.

TWO people will win $50 gift cards to spend on clothing/accessories from Mountain Khakis.

MK makes the burliest pants I've ever worn.  Thorns are nothing to them.  Japanese barberry and other really tiny thorns have gotten me every now and again, but any thing else just scrapes on by without injurying me or the integrity of the pants.  Honestly, they do better than Carhartt.   AND the women's stuff has a functional and attractive fit.  Seriously, how much time have we ladies spent looking for a great hardy, work pant that always tends to end up making us look like a man?  As well, their Granite Creek line are phenomenal quick-drying pants and shirts that are GREAT summer wear if you're in and around streams.

You can enter the GIVEAWAY by commenting on THIS POST.  You can enter up to four times by commenting.

Good luck to everyone.

GIVE-AWAY

I'm excited to announce my first blog give-away!

This give-away is courtesy of Mountain Khakis.

TWO lucky winners will receive a $50 gift card from MK to purchase any of their products!  Pretty sweet deal, no?!

I've talked on and off about my love for MK on here and I am frequently wearing their clothing in many-a-photo of myself.  They make bomber stuff that lasts through it all.

As of this spring they have loads more to offer in their women's department - seriously, go check it out.

No, sorry, that link won't take you to "shop now"
in the MK women's department....
But THIS ONE WILL.

For men, the typical get-out-get-dirty adventurer, they offer many options - I've seen men-friends put MK stuff through the wringer and back, it seriously holds up.

My go-to pant from them, the Alpine Utility, is described as "rowdy yet refined".  Which, as I've come to discover, means that I can plow through snow, mud, dirt, rain, and thorns, while still having a form-fitting pant.  No, not a tight oh-my-god-look-I'm-a-girl pant.  A yes-I'm-a-woman-and-I'm-in-the-outdoors pant.

Black Bear Den Assessments, Winter 2011 in my Alpine Utility Pants
Bar Harbor, Maine, Summer 2010 in my Alpine Utility Pants
Labor Day 2011 in my Teton Twill Capris
Planting trees, Autumn 2011 in my Alpine Utility Pant
Hiking in Dolly Sods, Autumn 2011 in my Granite Creek (light-weight and SUPER fast-drying) Pants

I was lucky this year to be asked to be the lady ambassador feature in their 2012 award-winning catalog, which I think everyone knows about by now (I was a wee bit excited and sort of shared this everywhere).

But seriously, MK's stuff is absolutely phenomenal.  I'm really excited to be able to offer you the chance to experience it!

Now, the entry rules for this give-away.

There are FOUR ways to enter, that's right, FOUR.  Which means each of you has the option to enter FOUR times.  But you only have to do one to guarantee an entry!  =)

1. COMMENT on this post telling me what your favorite MK product is after visiting their website.
2. Go to Facebook and "Like" Mountain Khakis (https://www.facebook.com/MountainKhakis) and then comment back on this post saying you did so.
3. Share this give-away on your blog OR share about it on Facebook and comment back on this post saying you did so (with a link to the blog post if you chose that method).
4. Follow Mountain Khakis (@MountainKhakis) on Twitter and comment back on this post saying you did so.

PLEASE, do NOT comment saying you did all of those things in one comment.  Make them separate comments to be certain that you receive an entry for each!

This give-away will close and winners will be announced (per the usual random number generator) on April 1st.  Everyone will have three weeks to enter and I will (of course) remind you all about it during the in-between time between now and April 1st!

(And a reminder, winners can be from all over, not just in the US.  I know several of you that already follow my blog live in some pretty amazing places around the world and I wanted to be able to offer a give-away that everyone could enter.  Potential international winners will just have to make a quick phone call to MK Customer Service to place the order.)

Without further ado, BEST OF LUCK to EVERYONE!

Big News...FOR YOU!

I would like to announce that in the VERY NEAR future I will be doing my first blog giveaway.

There will be TWO winners.

The prizes will be something that ALL readers of this blog will enjoy - man (wait, men blogging?!) or woman or horse person or homemaker or lover of all things wonderful in life.

I am VERY EXCITED to do this for you all.

Oh, and the BEST news?  The prizes will be able to go to any country (well, any of the countries that my typical blog traffic consists of).  This makes me exceptionally happy because I read several cross-country blogs and I know several of you follow mine.

I hope to have the post that discusses this amazing opportunity written and posted by the end of the weekend, and the give-away will be open for 10-14 days to ensure everyone a chance to enter.

Get PUMPED people!  I'm so excited for you!  I wish I had the opportunity to win something so great (and versatile)!

But until then, I shall suffice you with this picture of Griffin being oh-so-cute in his brand new hand-tied halter I MADE!  ....maybe I should do another future give-away with one of these halters....
